A Nebraska bill raising the age for smoking and vaping passed on last Friday.

The bill introduced by Grand Island Senator, Dan Quick, raises the legal age from 18 to 19 for purchasing and possessing vapor products, flavored liquids containing nicotine and tobacco products.

Individuals younger than 19 who purchase or use vapor or tobacco products will be guilty of a Class 5 misdemeanor. An individual selling or providing vapor or tobacco products to those under 19 will be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor.

The bill also requires retailers that sell vapor products to be licensed.
